Hey kids – I’m excited to announce that I’ll be joining up with my old friend Joe Comeau (Annihilator, Overkill) in 2019 drumming for Metal Blade artists Liegelord. We’ll be doing a limited amount of shows, starting in March in Athens, Greece at the “Up the Hammers” festival – co headlining with Armored Saint. Other shows planned are scheduled in Germany as well as some U.S. dates. Some of you may remember that I did a short stint in Liegelord back in 2000/2001 when we played the Wacken Open Air Festival, as well as recorded a killer version of the classic song “Too Scared To Run” by Uriah Heep on the tribute album “A Return To Fantasy – A Tribute To Uriah Heep” on Century Media Records – check out that song on the audio page of this website. I’m looking forward to playing some METAL in 2019!
I’m happy to announce that I’m now on board with the fine folks at Big Fat Snare Drum! I’ve been playing around with “The Original” model on my 1983 Tama Rosewood Superstar snare drum (my all time favorite!), and boy does it really give me that “Big Fat Snare Drum” sound when I need it! Go check them out at http://www.bigfatsnaredrum.com!
Hey kids – I’m excited to announce that currently I am getting involved with a great new organization, Rock Your Business (www.rockyourbusiness.com), which brings world class talent into the corporate world by providing exclusive team building and leadership workshops. This is a business that’s related to the Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp organization that I participated in back in July. Can’t wait to get started! Also, this fall I have ramped up my private teaching – so if you or someone you know wishes to learn and talk drums, check out the lessons page on my website, http://www.robmount.com!
Hey guys – go and check out this week’s “Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon” podcast over on the podcast page, where I am co-hosting this week’s show. Guests on this episode are Dee Snider from Twisted Sister, Darryl McDaniels from RUN DMC, and former Paul McCartney and Wings / Billy Joel drummer Denny Seiwell. I had a lot of fun hanging with Mitch, and I listen to his show all of the time – he does a great job, and interviews all of your favorite rock stars!
Hey kids – go check out the latest (as of July 30) episode of “Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon”. In it he does a great interview with Lou, touching on some subjects not normally mentioned in interviews with Lou – such as the Mr. Moonlight album and a couple of mentions of Yours Truly and the band. Thanks for the shout out, Mitch! Coming up soon, we’re off to Texas! See y’all down south soon!
Just got back from an AMAZING experience at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Chicago and a Lou Gramm gig in White Sulphur Springs – a great way to finish June and start July! Next, we’re off to Oregon, Ohio and then we play in Mequon, Wisconsin with Dennis DeYoung. Good stuff!
Hey kids – my most recent podcast interview, for “DrumGAB” is now up on the podcasts/interviews page. I had a great time talking to Seamus Evely about mostly non-drumming subjects, from my basic introduction to Lou Gramm’s band to philosophical ideas such as natural law and values…definitely different from the other ones I have done. Check out other DrumGAB episodes as I have, which had prompted me to contact Seamus in the first place about his unique show. Coming up in the last week of June will be the next Lou Gramm show in White Sulphur Springs, WV, and from there I fly directly to Chicago to take part in my first (hopefully not last) Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. I am honored to be a Camp Councilor and look forward to meeting some great people and jamming with some legends. From there, more Lou Gramm in July!
I’m happy to announce that I’ve been added to the list of Camp Counselors in the upcoming Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp in Chicago from June 28 – July 1! I’m honored to join an awesome lineup of great musicians who will have a blast counselling our campers how to rock out playing some great music along side some of their favorite stars! As of me writing this, there are still a few spots left – check it out at http://www.rockcamp.com. In Lou Gramm news, we had to cancel our Lake Tahoe show at the last minute due to Lou getting sick (hopefully the show will be rescheduled), and our show in the Dallas area on June 1 (or June 6 – depending who you ask – lol) most likely will be rescheduled in August. Next show up will be in West Virginia in June. See you soon!
Getting ready for more shows upcoming in the next couple of months – we’ll be heading to Lake Tahoe, Dallas-area of Texas, and down the road – a show with Dennis DeYoung. I also am working on appearing on another yet-to-be-announced drumming podcast. Good stuff – see you out there soon!
I’m honored to now be part of the Rimshot-locs family! Their RSL-2 locks are awesome – and are now on my Ludwig Supraphonic snare drum. Because I always knock my snare drums out of tune, these help me incredibly. Now, I can actually get a drink of water in between songs – instead of rushing to retuning the drum! Thanks to GT Albright and everyone at Rimshot – Locs!
